Après ICEAGE et WAR, le jeune Elias Bender Rønnenfelt a monté un nouveau groupe de rock. Ça s'appelle MARCHING CHURCH. En fait, ce projet existe depuis environ 3 ans, 3 titres figuraient sur la compile "Grå Fraktion" sorti en 2010 chez Posh Isolation, le label derrière la majorité des disques atteints de malfonction qui sortent du Danemark. La même année sort "At night", un premier maxi post-black metal encore plus bancal qu'un concert de Iceage, c'est dire. Non j'abuse un peu. Sur ce nouveau 4 titres, "Throughout the borders", notre petit chanteur à la croix de fer a compris que les pistes lentes lui réussissaient mieux. Les guitares se sont légèrement accordées, et le chant a gagné en clarté et hurle à la mort. Il a réécrit "Stang among" qui se transforme en un putain d'hymne de rock nordique (malgré un petit clin d’œil latin très étrange à la fin). Fini le "black metal indus" qui sert à rien, "All these arms" ressemble à de la oi! minimaliste et dépressive. Copenhague Violence ? Si les chansons de "New Brigade" marchaient, marchaient, à travers le pays, celles de Marching Church forcent les frontières. D'ailleurs, "Throughout the borders" est clairement le tube avec un refrain qui sonne comme une vieille guillotine rouillée. Un froid sec saisit la nuque. Le disque se clôture (en barbelé) par une ballade pop pour les filles, qui constituent désormais une partie non négligeable du public "post-punk". Iceage devrait d'ailleurs sortir un nouvel album au début de l'année 13.

The same year, they released "At night", a first "post-black metal" seveninch, as wobbly as an Iceage show... No, I'm overstating. On this new 4 tracks 7", "Throughout The borders", our little singer with the iron cross realized that he's more kicking on slow tracks. The guitars are slightly granted, and the voice has gained clarity and is screaming to death. So he rewrote "Stang among" and turned it into a fucking Nordic rock anthem (despite a very strange latin note at the end). Gone is the "industrial black metal" stuff which was quite useless, "All these arms" is like minimalist and depressive oi! music. Copenhagen Violence ? "New brigade" songs were marching, marching, accross the land, but now, the Marching Church forces the borders. "Throughout the borders" which gives its name to the EP is clearly the hit song with its chorus that sounds like an old rusty knife. A dry cold grips the neck. The record closes without barbed wire but with a pop ballad for girls, who are now a significant part of the post-punk audience. Iceage should also release a new album in early year 13.
