ExBerliner est un mensuel semi-branchouille qui ne coûte que 2.50eu. Les sujets et articles vont de trucs cools/informatifs à des conneries mytho pour touristes en mal de sensations. En gros, on trouve toujours quelque chose à se mettre sous la dent à l'intérieur. Le fait important à noter est que le mag est écrit en anglais de A à Z. Un bon point à Berlin. L'équipe organise aussi des évènements, ce jeudi ils invitaient D. de Picciotto pour une lecture dans la Torstraße, au Café Sandwich. Deuxième bon point.

ExBerliner is a semi-hip magazine which is published every month and costs 2.50eu. The subjects and articles vary from cool/useful informations to mytho/tourist bullshit. So you'll find everytime something to eat in it. The important fact to notice is the mag' is all written in english. Good point for Berlin. The mag' is also hosting some events in Berlin, and this thursday they invited D. de Picciotto for a reading in the Torstraße's Kaffee Burger. Second good point.



Danielle de Picciotto est une artiste américaine qui représente plutôt bien le berlinois établi d'aujourd'hui. Elle est tombée amoureuse de la ville quand elle l'a visité en 1987, elle n'est jamais rentrée à Washington depuis. Portant plusieurs casquettes, elle se l'est donnée dans beaucoup de domaines, organisations de parties, dessin, design, chant, vidéo, mais la chose qui l'a rendue célèbre est la création de la Love Parage (avec Dr. Motte) en 1989 (je sais pas si c'est le meilleur moyen de rendre justice à son œuvre). Elle a été un personnage clé dans le modelage de la metropolis. Elle s'est mariée à une autre célébrité des vieux bons jours de Berlin, Alexander Hacke, membre de longue date des Einstürzende Neubauten. Ils jouent maintenant ensemble, il distille des samples sombres et industriels (à l'aide d'un combo Rebotini, moustachio/santiago) pendant qu'elle lit sa poésie urbaine.

Danielle de Picciotto is an American born artist who represents quite well the kind of established berliner of today. She fell in love with the city when she moved in from Washington in 1987, and she never went back. Wearing many hats, she performed into a lot of domains, organizing events, drawing, designing, singing, doing videos, the thing that she's most famous for is the creation of the Love Parade (with Dr. Motte) in 1989 (Dunno if it's the better way to give her light). She was a key protagonist in the shaping of the metropolis. She married another celebrity of the good old Berlin days, Alexander Hacke, long time member of Einstürzende Neubauten. They're now performing together, he spills some dark electronic samples (with the Rebotini combo, moustache/marlboros) while she's reading her urban poetry.



C'est ce qu'ils ont fait dans le secteur russe hier soir, et ça sonnait bien. Photos projetées à l'appui et agréable voix ont aidé à la captivance. [Le roi des hipsters a malheureusement interrompu le conte avant la fin car le groupe de garage-rock s'impatientait.] "The beauty of transgression" est la première publication de DDP en format livre après de nombreux clips et documentaires (sur Throbbing Gristle, Neubauten, Berlin, etc.). Le livre que je n'ai pas encore lu est une petite bible à propos de ce qui s'est passé à Berlin durant ces 25 dernière années (1987-2005 en fait). Si on se base sur le fait que la meuf s'est trouvé à tous les niveaux de la culture, du squat au ministère, on peut imaginer la richesse de la chose. La folie des clubs, Berlin cité des arts, les années 90, mais plus, c'est un témoignage désintéressé des changements opérés avant et après la chute du rideau de fer, et ses effets produits sur les gens, la kultur et l'architektur. Tout simplement de l'Histoire.

This book I've not read yet is a kinda bible about what went on in Berlin in the last 20 years. On the basis that the girl was present in every level of culture, from squatt to ministry, you can imagine how rich the tale could be. The clubbing mania, Berlin city of arts, the 1990's, but more, this is a self-giving testimony of the changes that occured here before and after the fall of the iron curtain, how did it affect people, culture and architecture. This is simply History.
